The Pike and the Cat

Let the cobbler make the cake, and the cook mend the shoes, and you can be sure that nothing good will come of them. There is nothing worse in the world than to give up your line of work and go into another business.

If only I could catch mice like a cat, thought the pike. Maybe it's just crazy, maybe it's just used to the taste of fish. So he ran to the cat and said, "Don't refuse me at once! I beg you, can you let me spend the whole day in your warehouse, I want to taste the rats!

"Yes! 'Said the Cat kindly.' You must study hard. Stay focused, or you will suffer. 'Nothing is difficult if you put your heart into it." There is truth in that old saying."

The cat went away by himself, and when he came back, he suddenly remembered the pike. So he decided to take a look inside the warehouse. There lay the pike, horribly white, his eyes wide and his mouth open. A mouse had bitten off his tail.

Seeing what had become of the pike, the cat quickly dragged him back out into the pond.

"There!" "Now you see, Pike, that I leave it to you to catch mice.

梭子鱼和猫儿

如果让鞋匠来做糕点，让厨子来修补鞋子，大家一定相信他们做不出什么好结果来。在这个世界上，恐怕再也没有比丢掉自己的本行去做别的生意更糟糕的事情了。

梭子鱼想：我要是能像猫一样，逮几只老鼠该有多好！说不定是它自己异想天开，也许是它吃惯了鱼的味道。于是，它就跑去见猫：“你可别一口回绝我！我求求你，能不能让我在你的仓库里待上一整天，我多想尝尝老鼠的味道啊！”

“可以啊！” 猫儿友善地说道，“你可得好好学习学习啊。一定要集中精力，不然你会遭殃的。天下无难事，只怕有心人。这句老话可不是没有道理的。”

“你说的这是什么话啊，我连鱼都能抓到，难道抓不住一只老鼠吗？” 梭子鱼对猫说。

“那好吧，祝你成功！” 猫笑眯眯地说。

猫自己走开了，等到它又回来的时候，它突然想起梭子鱼了。于是，它决定进仓库里看看。只见梭子鱼躺在那儿，脸色苍白得吓人，眼睛也瞪得很大，嘴巴也张着。原来是一只老鼠咬掉了它的尾巴。

看到梭子鱼成了这副德行，猫就赶紧把它拖回外面的池塘里去了。

“活该！” 猫说， “梭子鱼啊，现在你应该明白了吧，像逮老鼠这样的事情，还是由我来做吧！”

做任何事都要量力而行,当你想尝试一样新事物时，先要认清自己的能力,并做好充足的准备。
